Ryan Wilson joined UCSF Medical Center's Department of Surgery as the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program Coordinator in 2014. He participates in minimally invasive (Laparoscopic) and open bariatric surgical procedures alongside Drs. Stanley Rogers, Jonathan Carter, Andrew Posselt, and Mathew Lin. Additionally, he assists in a variety of general surgery cases as needed (e.g. appendectomies, cholecystectomies, complex ventral and inguinal hernia repairs, etc.).
Wilson graduated from Touro University with a duel Master's degree in physician assistant studies (MSPAS) and public health (MPH). He completed his clinical training at several hospitals and private practices with diverse patient populations throughout California and Nevada including a highly sought after rotation at Kaiser Fremont's laparoscopic Bariatric Specialty Center. Prior to joining UCSF he practiced emergency medicine at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, CPMC St. Luke's Hospital, Sutter Santa Rosa Medical Center, and Sutter Lakeside. He also brings with him skills in wound care and occupational health from his time at Kentfield Specialty and Rehabilitation Hospital. Wilson is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. As well, he is an active member of the following professional organizations: California Academy of Physician Assistants, American Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
